Hello, I've been searching for any information about my Telecaster model from the seventies that I bought today.
The headstock decal reads "DIAMOND" in gold, but there is no second name (by Aria?, by Ibanez?).
The neck plate only reads : MADE IN JAPAN.
When was this guitar built? Was it built by Matsumoku? Was it a lawsuit copy?
Any information or usefull website links are welcome.
Cheers, Freddy (Belgium)

Re: Diamond Telecaster copy, 70's
Some Diamonds mirrored Aria models and others did not. Aria did have a diamond line and there was a plastic diamond on the headstock. During this period there may have been several manufacturers contracted to make models for a brand.
It is not a lawsuit model. The lawsuit was filed by Norlin/Gibson over the trademark Gibson open book headstock.
The serial number was more for dealer warranty and not indicative of the date of manufacture. Suffice it to say it is likely an early 70's model.
Very cool!
