Unknown japanese brand Diaphone

Post: # 80662Post kastorunik »

Hello,

I've just bought a old japanese guitar from a japanese brand I've never heard of - Diaphone.

The seller who collects japanese made guitar from the 70s told me the guitar is thought to be circa 1975-1977.

I'm a player (not a very good one) and I don't judge an instrument quality over a brand but rather by the sound it produces, its comfort (for me) and the overall quality of construction.

The guitar sounds great and the workmanship seems really meticulous.

The guitar has :
- a three-piece figured maple back (with beautiful inlays) and side with a matching mapple headstock. I've no idea if it's laminated or solidwood.
- Abalone type binding for the soundboard and the rosette,
- Tortoiseshell celluloid binding around the back, soundboard, neck and heastock (very nice because you can see the wood through the translucent parts).
- I supposed it has mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard and brigde.

I was looking for a maple back guitar and this one is good sounding and kind of original looking. That's why I bought it.

Do you, guys, have any infos on this japanese brand ?
