After doing a bit more research on the above serial # (003*11) stamped into the fret board at the end. I believe it's read as: Year 1980, Month March, Production number *11.

Maxon did occur to me. The number on it does not seem to match anything I've been able to dig up on Maxon however. I should mention that the magnet is ceramic and double the height of a normal humbucking magnet. The DCR is around 8K.

So I have what I believe to be a MIJ Epiphone Genesis. The parts seem to be all Japanese. But in running to ground the Taiwanese made Genesis, their serial numbers are printed on the back of the head stock and follow the scheme: First two numbers= month of manufacture; third number = year of ...
